What are your main responsibilities?

Overall responsibility for the managing of the finance and commercial functions of the company.

What does a typical day involve?

Pricing products for the sales team, forecasting, purchasing, building relationships with suppliers, financial reporting, managing the company’s purchasing of raw materials and maintaining relationships with local farmers, writing board reports and reporting on company performance in general.

What do you enjoy about it?

The amount of variation in my work and the amount of work. No two days are the same and it’s non-stop so the days fly by. I also enjoy the fact what I do makes a real difference.

What are the biggest challenges you face?

To help the company reach its long-term profitability goals. Our position in the supply chain means there's financial pressure on both sides - suppliers looking to increase prices and customers looking to reduce costs. And of course we want to invest in innovation as well as balancing these different interests.

Best moment you’ve had at EDME?

Getting promoted to the role I am in now. Also, the general friendliness of everyone at EDME when I joined, it is such a friendly company to work for and everyone is so nice. I joined as a temp initially and one of the big points which made me stay was how nice it is to work here.

What difference does your work make to the business?

Well I would like to think a pretty big difference. If I make a mistake on a spreadsheet its curtains for the entire business!
